The 'Shadowbane' website now holds an official announcement regarding yesterday's "hacking" issue (which apparently turned out to be an exploit):
The investigation into the incidents surrounding player exploits on some Shadowbane servers last night by Wolfpack Studios and Ubi Soft indicate that the disruptive actions of a few players were the result of a hacked client.

It is important to clarify that at no point was user personal information at risk, or accessed.

The Shadowbane team responded as quickly as possible to combat these actions late last night across the entire service. Although several players fell victim to the actions of this group, we prevented further exploitation by shutting down the servers, restoring and further consolidating them . All affected servers have received roll-backs prior to these incidents occurring in order restore the game to its previous state.

We apologize for the disruption this caused to your enjoyment of Shadowbane and we will continue to work to prevent such incidents in the future.

Please be assured that violations of the Shadowbane terms of use, or the Shadowbane end user license agreement, will be enforced to their full extent by Ubi Soft and Wolfpack Studios.

- The Shadowbane Team
