Lineage 2 Vault has posted an interview with 'Dhevrin' from NCsoft:
Mongo: Anything you would like to say first for our readers?

Dhevrin: Our concept for lineage 2 in the U.S. is that we really want to emphasize how wide open the PVP is. Up to this point, and this is really going against the grain, a lot players expect that in an MMO you really want to do a lot of hand holding especially at the beginning and to make sure everyone plays nice. For example, if players are holding a bridge and forcing people to pay tolls, we are not going to go and tell them to stop. We want other players to go in as a group because they have the ability to take them down. That's our core philosophy and I have been saying that for many months. We also want to extend that philosophy to the web site as well so we plan to implement statistics and rankings everyone can see that will include PVP statistics, like sieges and castle rankings. We did this during open beta and it was very popular. We want to make PVP a matter of pride, not a matter of being bad because you are a PK. Some people think PKing is such a bad thing, and maybe in a way it is, but to a certain extent we really want to encourage PVP and we want you to be a little bad bastard and to mess around with people. This game is not for the weak hearted, you have to love PVP, you have to love hard core things like watching your back all the time and expecting to be abused. We feel there is a niche market for that, and that's where we are starting, that is our core audience. Hopefully later on it will gradually increase to a wider audience. The engine for that kind of concept is always the Chronicle updates. Chronicle 1 is coming very soon for us, and chronicle 2 in Korea is only a couple months away. What we want to do is catch up with them so it is a simultaneous launch, but we're not there yet.
