There are two reviews of Runesword 2 online today: The first one at Videogamenews is rather brief, but seems to generally like the game:
What’s most appealing about all this customization is that it allows you to nearly create your own RPG and give its setting and characters their own unique flavor. You can even use your own AVI and MP3 files, and can also go online to interact with other players for an even greater experience. Additionally, there is support for many other features including spell creation, character backstories and more. As stated earlier, you can customize the characters’ including their appearance and abilities, but where Runesword II goes beyond expectations lies in the fact that it allows you to create your own monsters, spells, objects and virtually any other element you can think of. This is a really cool feature and the number of options goes far beyond what you’d normally expect. Even better, the interface is to do all of this is a simple, easy to understand Windows style approach that’s easy to understand thanks to the video tutorials.
The second review can be found at The Armchair Empire. With a score of 8.3/10, it's very positive, too:
The most powerful aspect of RSII is the quest creation. There are detailed video tutorials and the manual provides exhaustive instruction on how to make your own dungeon adventure. Even I, failing at WorldCraft so miserably and unable to ever solve a Rubic’s cube, was able to create a decent adventure. Sure, it wiped out my party in 30 minutes of play but the fact I could actually make a map is a testament to how well the creator is setup and documented. And these maps can be downloaded by other RSII players, which extends playability if you’re not the Dungeon Master type.
In the end, Runesword II is a great game for those that want that old-fashioned D&D experience. It attains simplicity while maintaining the complexity and not being a pushover in terms of challenge. Plus, it runs great – no hard drive erasures or install problems here. | Source: RPGVault |
