Camelot Vault has a report that Mythic Entertainment has banned the first ten cheaters from Dark Age of Camelot:
I wanted to come out and inform everyone about some incidents that occured today within DAoC. We have been monitoring the use of speed-hacking (and other) software within the game, and I had the unpleasant task of taking the first 10 off of our list and terminating their accounts today. This truly was unpleasant for me, and I am sure horrible for them, but I want everyone to understand a couple of things.
1. It is clearly stated in our policies (in many places) that the use of any game hacking, altering, or cheating is grounds for immediate termination of your account.
2. We use a combination of server monitoring and logging, which is then verified by human observation, to determine when someone is using these types of cheats.
3. We ALWAYS give our customers the benefit of the doubt on any disciplinary actions. If we were not 100% sure that this was justified in these cases, we would not have taken the action that we did.
4. Be assured that if you are hacking, altering the game, or cheating in other ways, we will catch you.
I am sorry that this had to happen, and I hope I do not come across too hard on this. For the 99.9% of you out there who never even think about this type of thing, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Believe me, I have played in the games that make you feel like you are the enemy, who is always being watched, and who always has to be afraid that someone will think you are cheating and then ban you. This is NOT one of those games. We truly do care about you, and want you to enjoy your experience within DAoC. So please do. :) |
