An article titled Roleplaying in an MMORPG can be found at Killer Betties:
World of Warcraft and the MMO(RPG) Market explored some of the difficulties inherent in most MMORPG’s on the market these days. Technical limitations can make for a tough time getting into and staying in character in a world where your interaction with the world is only what the developers have allowed. It's easy to be daunted by the number of obstacles facing roleplayers in a modern MMORPG. Everything from creature respawns, to death mechanics, to limitations in character actions, to even the other players can work to remind the player that “it's just a game.” But roleplayers have been working to transcend these limitations for as long as the form has existed. From pen and paper to the present, player ingenuity has worked to fill in the gaps designers have left. This article will explore the essence of roleplaying within MMORPG’s.
