The review of Celtic Kings: Rage of War at GoneGold ends with an overall rating of 87% and the Gold award. Here's their summary, which seems to be less enthusiastic:
Celtic Kings is a game that will be passed up by many, despite the ability it has to entertain for a few dozen hours. Despite all its faults, it does perform well and has an engaging main campaign, with the genre mixing surprisingly well done. It would never come near dethroning Warcraft III as the current master of strategy games, but it does try. Even though multiplayer and skirmish mode are fairly unoriginal, the supply lines and large maps can make it worthwhile, as long as you don't let your expectations get to high.
When compared to other RTS games, Celtic Kings manages to be different (at least in single player), and is fun, despite the fact it is largely predominated by pointless routine. The missions do vary, and will have you coming back for more. With only a bit more of a graphical and sound improvement, and a few more units, Celtic Kings would have been an excellent game. As it is, its still a good buy, but not as great as it could have been.
