I'm sorry, but they totally butchered the Bard's Tale franchise with a game that is just funny (sometimes) and doesn't offer anything new. An "8" is just too much.

I rate it as high as a 6 because in parts it is very funny and I did get about 15 play hours out of the thing. But the repetive and unimaginative game play was just way too much to take.

how can you even dare to call this piece of shit an RPG?!? it doesn't even have an inventory! it has no dialogue whatsoever [selecting between ":)" and ":(" can't be counted as dialogue, sorry], lamest cut&paste map design a have ever seen, totally demented AI, stupid and straightforward plot, lame-ass controls, and ugly graphics and more (i can't go on it hurs to only thing of this abomination of a game). Boring, repetitive, ugly stupid consolish shit, go play something else.

Although, as other have said... it's not really an RPG... The Bard's Tale still deserves more than a 3 or lower rating. The dialog between the bard and the narrator is clever most of the time, and it does a good job of poking fun at the RPG conventions long-time RPGers are used to. I found the graphics to be suitable, and even though the plot is derivative.. that's kind of the point... to copy every "save the princess" "beat the foozle" plot that has ever existed. It won't go on my list of top CRPGs that I've ever played but I have enjoyed it as a quick game with some nice touches of comedy and the ability to make fun of the standards that we've all grown accustomed to.
