The last poll asked "Have cRPGs improved since the '90s?" - a tricky subject to tackle in this format. The results aren't surprising but certainly highlight that many cRPG fans feel disenfranchised. 52% feel some things are better, some things worse followed by 27% who feel the genre is devolving to its detriment. Only 11% feel the genre is evolving for the better, while just under 8% think things are about the same, graphics aside.
This week I thought we'd ask about EA's Project Gray. Little has been revealed so you'll have to go largely on reputation and market forces. This team previously worked on Lord of the Rings: The Third Age for various consoles and EA still holds the LotR rights, so I don't think it's a big stretch to assume a Lord of the Rings multi-platform project. On the other hand, the blurb claims a huge open-ended game and Sims AI. Will EA make a revolutionary leap with its resources and AI experience - or deliver Fable in LotR packaging? Hit the poll on the left and feel free to comment. |
