Not too long ago, I suffered a MMORPG identity crisis. I felt I wanted to play a MMORPG, but I had a hard time deciding which one was right for me. Among other games, I tried City of Villains, World of Warcraft, the Matrix Online, Lineage 2, and EVE: Second Genesis: All during the same weekend. (I'm lucky I had a free trial coupon or two!) When the dust settled, I settled on EverQuest 2.

Why EverQuest 2? After all, this is a prodigy of SoE, long branded evil incarnate by burned out players of the original EverQuest bitter over their everlasting gobstopper giving out and ex-Star Wars Galaxies veterans who woke up one morning to find their game totally redesigned. EQ2 certainly doesn’t seem to be as popular as that Blizzard title everyone's playing, yet it's clear I was not willing to settle for second best.
