The official site for the upcoming MMORPG Frontier 1859 has been updated with a FAQ about the game. Here's the first entry which should tell you a little bit more about the game, too:
Why should a person play Frontier 1859?

MMOGs typically build a static world and allow limited exploration, level treadmills, and the corralling of players to select areas of the landscape. Frontier 1859 equips players with a progressive staging of tools, skills and elements found through exploration and challenges players to go out and inhabit the landscape. It's like the game of Life meets Monopoly, meets Erector Set, meets Doll House, meets next generation AAA action game. The idea for an authentic western-based MMOG is fresh and hasn't been done before. This is a game not only for the typical gamer but one which can be enjoyed by the whole family, history professors, armchair historians, re-enactors, students, etc. It is a tool for learning without trying to be. It helps us explore our past, while enjoying the comforts of the present, and the prospects of the future. The idea of role playing with life-like characters, permanent death, a real morals system, a strong economy, a viable trade skill system, an in-game conscience system where you are punished for doing bad (when caught), and rewarded for doing good is unique in itself. Frontier 1859 will not cater to griefers and pk's. It is a game where the object is living - not death.
