It's a dull news day, let me just say this. Now, having said so, Video Game News brings us a preview of Another War, an RPG taking place during WW2. Here's a bit:
You can choose between three characters. I chose the tough guy because I figured tough meant he'd survive for more than five minutes in the game. I was wrong. In my jail cell I find a number of hidden objects. For one thing, in a pile of potatoes, there is a small knife. Unfortunately, the game engine uses some sort of random interface stat engine to decide if you succeed in certain tasks. Trying to grab the knife will cause you to fail, repeatedly. However, if you just sit there and continue to try and get it, eventually you'll pick it up. This is stupid... Beyond the obvious fact that you could probably just dump out the potatoes and get the knife, the idea that you have to try over and over again is a waste of time. It'd be far better to succeed or fail, not just fail... fail... fail... and then succeed. |
