Thanks to Weas for pointing out to us that the folks at Cryptic Studios updated the website of their mmorpg City of Heroes with some kind of open letter to the fans. Among other things, it says that they won't be able to start-up the beta test by the end of March, as was originally planned, because of balancing issues. For the next three or four months we won't be seeing a lot of news though, but they should be back in May and make a huge come-back at E3. Apart from that Jack Emmert also talks about some recent changes in the dev team, including the joining of Michael Lewis as interim CEO and Rich Dakan as Fiction Writer. Here's a snip of his explanations:
As many of you know, MMORPG’s take a lot of testing – and we’ve been doing that here for quite some time. Balancing a game of such epic proportions is nothing less than a Herculean effort. And we’ve come up with some good stuff – but as a result, we won’t be able to start-up the Beta at the end of March like we originally thought. The game, however, is really going to benefit. I don’t want to promise a specific date for Beta until it is rock solid, because that’s what is most fair to you guys.
Well... it certainly sounds a lot more positive than the general atmosphere we've seen on their forums lately.
