An interview with Artifact Entertainment Rick Simmons, Director of Engineering and Ben Spees, Lead Client Engineer about Horizons went online at Intrinsic Alchemy, makers of the engine for that upcoming MMORPG. Again, here's a snippet:
Intrinsic Graphics: What impact has Alchemy object oriented design had on your own design?

Ben: Alchemy has allowed us to buy into its object model to different extents based on our needs. We've been able to create our own types of nodes to place in the scene graph when necessary. We have also been able to integrate and synchronize Alchemy's objects with our own external object system fairly easily, which is sometimes preferable.

Intrinsic Graphics: Would you recommend Alchemy for Massively Multiplayer games?

Rick: Alchemy has allowed us to put together an excellent game engine. As for applicability to Massively Multiplayer games, we have not encountered any reasons not to use Alchemy for a Massively Multiplayer title.
