Final Fantasy X-2 has been reviewed over at Pax Gamers where it received a score of 86%:
But, a normal RPG this is not. The battle systems you know and love from previous Final Fantasies have all but been ditched in favor of a new battle system which I have dubbed, "Attention Deficit Disorder System". Most battles in the field last about twenty to thirty seconds and are as frantic as possible. Strategy is prevalent in small dosages in these battles, but when you do get to boss battles, it is almost a necessity to employ certain strategies to beat them. Managing your dressspheres is the key, which class should you pick, and which would be most helpful. You mustn't take much time either, for the the battles are all in real time. Enemies can attack while you're still dabbling around with menus. Which leads to another problem. The game's battle system is very confusing and frantic until you get the hang of it. But, the realtime attacks do offer a bit more strategy to the battles. If you time your attacks just right, they form a "Chain attack" where the damage is multipled by the number of times you hit the enemy. Also, if an enemy is running up to attack you, you can attack him first and stop him dead in his tracks. After about a two hour learning curve, the game's battle engine becomes immersing, and you'll soon come to like the high encounter rate, because of the fun battles.
