RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Erai has rated the following games:

Eve Online: The Second Genesis: 7/10 points

Eve is an ok game, but not for everyone. I thoroughly disagree with Pangolin that people who like it are 12-year olds with long attention spans (there are not too many of those, anyway ;-) ) Rather, I think that this game is well suited for older players: The learning curve is quite steep, there is no such thing as "instant gratification", and the game is harsh: having your ship destroyed or even being killed can be a major setback- sometimes forcing you to pick up the pieces, and start over from where you were a month ago. It has proven to be hard to balance this game, however, and, despite the fact that your skills keep training while you are offline, you need to spend a LOT of online time to sort of "keep up with the Jones's" (which will make the game a lot more fun) If the developers will succeed in archieving good game balance, Eve will become a great game. At the moment, playing it is fun for me, but the real exhilaration from late beta and early release has well gone... it's an ok game, as I said.
