Artist Jeff Jonas added a new team comment to the Star Wars: Galaxies site. GHere's a part of it:
The 3D art comes after the designers, concept artists, and programmers create the work paths by doing the research, the world building, the tool making, and the amazing programming code that makes it all magically work. They are equivalent to the scriptwriters, pitchmen, and production technicians, and cinematographers of the movie studio. The artists create the avatars, animated creatures, machines, vehicles, and environments that fill the screen. This is a total team effort. One person’s efforts depend on the other, and everybody here is enormously talented.
The comments by our online community, and our team’s reaction to the community’s input, create an exciting departure for me. In the past I’ve worked on games that were “canned”, in other words, once the project was done, we were done. Now we make sure that the community is involved, before during and after the game is released. It’s exciting that folks are participating along with us and are interested in what we are producing on a day-to-day basis. We may be building the environments, animations, creature and sounds, but it’s the players that fill the polygon “shoes” and make it an online game. |
