There is a new review of Wizardry 8 to be found at Ars Technica. The score is nearly perfect, a 9/10, and the reason why it isn't a 10 is:

I can't recommend Wizardry 8 enough. The only reason I am not going to give it a perfect 10 is because I don't think the game has a broad appeal. It is for hardcore role-players. If that describes you, then go out and get Wizardry 8. It's my favorite game this past year, and that year is over.

On a personal note: To say David Sylvian isn't an exceptional songwriter because he doesn't appeal to the masses is something I wouldn't understand either. There are reasons why this game doesn't have to get a perfect score - but this one - sorry, I can't follow...
