Number 7 in EQ Vault's EverQuest 2: Ask SOE series is up with three more questions being answered by Steve "Moorgard" Danuser, Community Manager. Here's one of the exchanges:Lepidus: One complaint against MMOs is the vast time commitments. What will EQII have that will draw in the more casual players? Not only in terms of less playing time, but short playing bursts.
Steve "Moorgard" Danuser: Our game is really designed around the idea of a group of friends being able to get together, group for a couple hours, and make meaningful progress in the game. We'll still have quests and other encounters that take significant time to complete, but they'll be broken up into shorter blocks of time rather than long camps that last six or eight hours.
Through the careful use of instancing, we can make important quest mobs available to all players who have done the preliminary work necessary to reach that point in the quest. This way, we hope to avoid having multiple players waiting in line for their shot at a quest mob. |
