The summary shows why: New World Computing has delivered a truly run-of-the-mill product in M&M IX. The emptiness of the world, the poor quality of the graphics, and the decidedly easy-to-use interface and instructions cripple what otherwise could have been a fun little RPG. Despite these flaws, and there are many flaws, a few moments of compelling gameplay manage to shine through. The character advancement system is enjoyable once you figure out how it works, and one or two of the quests are motivating enough to keep you playing for a few more hours. However, with some strong RPG competition on store shelves, M&M IX stays firmly at the back of the pack.
