A free fantasy MMORPG...
The legends tell of a time before our world - long before the lives of those who have come to inhabit this land. In the beginning, it is said, our land came forth from the primeval chaos, ushering into existence the six powers contained within. They took the form of light, dark, fire, ice, earth, and wind, and were manifest at their most concentrated in the form of crystals distributed throughout the land.
So powerful was the energy contained within the crystals that it gave rise to the Gods, so that by these avatars the six powers could have creative and willful influence over the land itself. These Elemental Gods then used the power of the crystals combined to form the Supreme Being, who, being a more powerful force, was set to rule over and give glory to the lesser Gods.
The Supreme Being then commanded the others to give the land animate form, and the eight races of man were created to give further glory to the will of the Gods. The eight races of man then spread throughout the land, and with the help of the Gods, learned to use the power of the crystals to fulfill all of their needs. With the Gods' wisdom bestowed upon them, mankind lived peacefully for hundreds of years, developing increasingly complex and technologically advanced societies.
The era of peace and prosperity was not to last, however, as the eight races found among their kind increasing numbers with evil hearts and minds. As the evil spread, societies found themselves breaking apart into tribes: The evil banding together in pursuit of power and wealth, and the others forming defensive factions, so that they might be able to keep what the Gods had provided for them. This was the birth of War, and for a time it was all that our world's people devoted themselves to. Good and Evil polarized the eight races, and even the elemental Gods began to be affected by the division, joining the fight for one side or the other.
This war raged on and became increasingly bloody, with entire populations being decimated by the elemental Gods' immense power. This display of violence displeased the Supreme Being, and by an act of his will the Gods and eight races of man came to see the folly of their hatred. Overnight the world settled into an uneasy peace, with the memories of unfounded hatred fresh within the minds of men and Gods alike.
These memories have faded into antiquity, and today we find ourselves in a stable and peaceful world. Our kind has never known the Gods to take part in a conflict among men, and our wars have been few and short-lived. We are ever-vigilant, however, as it is known that the face of evil has begun to show itself in men once again, and if one listens carefully, the voices of the Gods can be heard whispering in the night. |
