RPGDot Game Rating Machine

aldreth has rated the following games:

Anarchy Online: 2/10 points

I hate funcom, I despise funcom, I want to sue them for my money back :P On the bright side, the game was a bit different from your run of the mill mmorpg. But I severly doubt they will ever recover from the worst start for a MMORPG in history.

Arx Fatalis: 10/10 points

Should have been #1.

Asheron's Call 2: The Fallen Kings: 1/10 points

ICK! I can't believe I purchased this... this... thing. I also can't believe the latency issues with this game. Horrid, reminds me of AO, well atleast this is playable - (Throws a spitball at Funcom) - The graphics are great, but, horrible if you dont have top notch hardware. Even if you do have a high end pc, you will still lag out because of the dern latency issues! I am sorry but gameplay is by far more important than graphics IMO. But this game is horrid until they atleast make it so there is no lag when your on a cable modem or better. :P

Asheron's Call: Dark Majesty: 5/10 points

IMO this game just didn't cut it. I never could really get into it, although I applaud the ones who could :P

Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance 2: 8/10 points

good gameplay, nice graphics, better storyline than the first one. Same old textures though, and no character cusomization. Lots of fun if you havent played it.

Dark Age of Camelot: 10/10 points

By far the most entertaining MMORPG out to date. IMO the best rpg in the last 5 years. With the nonstop player interaction, the post 50 rvr, along with skills to gain from killing other players, the new expansion, with new places to see and endless things to do. This game seems to have all the others covered... with dirt.. :) I eat dirt alot in rvr, but atleast there is rvr. I can't believe I played EQ for so long without PVP, DAOC reminds me of the open ended pvp from the old TEXT muds, moooooooooooooooshes, we all used to play.

Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded Isles: 8/10 points

Very good expansion :)

Diablo 2: 8/10 points

I give it an 8 for effort. The release of this game was with few bugs. Very good gameplay IMO, and that in itself deserves a decent rating. BTW if you have stats, levels, classes.. Your considered an RPG... Dunno why though :P

Divine Divinity: 10/10 points

I can't sum up all of the things that make this game unbelievably fun to play. Picture perfect rpg... If you have not played it... YOUR LUCKY! I wish I could go back and replay it over and over and over... without knowing the storyline :) The first time I played this was from the demo.. Resolution was 640X480.. Kinda looked bad... But damn the option for 800X600 on the Full version and wow.. this game is badass! Overall ratings Graphics - 12 Gameplay - 10 Fast... fun... nuff said Storyline - 9 Very good but not the best.. Overall - 11... Your missing out if you don't try the full version!

Druid: Demons of the Mind: 1/10 points

I absolutely hated this game. I thought the storyline was one of the worst. I didn't get to play it until it had been released for about 7 months though.. so MAYBE I missed something, however I do doubt that.

Elder Scrolls 2 - Daggerfall: 8/10 points

I loved this game, but its been so long I can't seem to bring myself to give it a 10 anymore. It was great when it first came out, I spent many sleepless nights making character like all of us :P But it was really buggy.

Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 1/10 points

When I first puchased Morrowind, I had waited years for it. The anticipation, the excitement, the next Daggerfall! After I started playing it was great, the first 10-20 hours or so I was having a great time. Then it started to eat at me. Why are the player models so absolutely disgusting looking, I mean, look at your character and ick, nothing to gawk at! What about animations, why does he run like he is straddling a horse? After about level 12 the gameplay became a huge issue because it was entirely too easy. At first I could stand the crash/latency issues but after hours of playing I grew very very tired of it. Where the heck is the Con System in this game I mean this is an RPG right? So how am I supposed to con a monster?? Then you have the quest system, at first it was ok, then you realize that its just the same crap over and over with a HORRIBLE journal and relatively small differences. EQ had a better quest system than this, although it reminds me of AO with small dungeons instead of small houses. What about the NPC's anyways, where the heck are there reactions, why do they all say the same things, why do they never change when you do something important?? On one hand the music I enjoyed immensely, on the other, the sound effects made me scream. The storyline is nice but, only if you can withstand the nonstop TEXT. OK so this is an rpg right?? So... Where the heck are the halflings, kobolds, dwarves, gnomes????? Balance issues are also ridiculous, don't even try to use hand to hand combat bleh! Absolutely a open ended game, with a Lifeless world, static dialogue, entirely scarce game economy. The only reason this game is even in the top 15 of all time, is because we rated it too early, if you look the ratings started at all 10's then dropped quickly, and will continue to. I am sorry bethesda I used to like you, but this is the last time I will ever wait anxiously for a game of yours. IMHO this isn't even an rpg, just a LIFELESS world with LIFELESS npc's.

I just wanted to add that the modding system for morrowind has been superb. You can fix alot of the issues that ive had with the game if you severely mod it. I still cant stand all the text and the lifeless npc's though. And please someone change all those repetitive dungeons...

Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 5/10 points

Great non-linear game. Extremely moddable, by a large community. Extremely crappy graphics, horrible character models, blah. Its ok, not sure why it is rated so high though, I found the story to be quite horrible personally. It gets way too easy after about level 10 or so as well.

EverQuest: 9/10 points

IF a game can change your entire REAL LIFESTYLE, it has to be rated highly, even if you hate the game for doing that to you :P Anyone who rates this game before they play it for more than a month, needs to have there review removed. This game has seemingly endless amounts of content/quests/things to do/people to impress/ it has changed the entire way we think of mmorpg's. And has also transformed the genre. That in itself deserves some respect. :P

EverQuest - Planes of Power: 6/10 points

Decent, but by far not the best. I like the extra 5 levels, but the need for keys sucks. Getting left behind is something I was hoping would get better, now they have just made it worse.

Gothic 2: 10/10 points

perfect :)

Gothic 2: 10/10 points

Jamsession you are a complete moron to think that this game doesn't have an atmosphere. Morrowinds atmosphere was a complete joke, there isnt even a comparison, Gothic's atmosphere absolutely destroys morrowind. From the beautiful terrain to the npc's that actually interact with your actions. man what morrowind did you play? As far as you saying the Gothic stories are thin, thats ludicrous you morrowind fanboy, stop voting great games down for no reason. You are a complete joke to the rpg community, any of you who vote this game below a 8 are a complete idiot, yes sir you all are idiots.

King's Quest 8 - The Mask of Eternity: 3/10 points

I personally thought this game was a huge letdown. Not as big as some of the big name games, but still a let down none the less. Biggest problem to me was the controls. Worst King's Quest EVER!

Lands of Lore 2 - Guardians of Destiny: 2/10 points

Big Hype, no game. I was sorely disapointed.

Neverwinter Nights: 1/10 points

This game is the biggest let down ever... If you you have the gawl to rate this game higher than 5, then you would make a great salesman. Here is the breakdown for 2002... Neverwinter Nights = Biggest let down of 2002 Divine Divinity = Wow didn't expect that to be a great game... Full version rules ... its what NWN should have been...

Nightstone: 4/10 points

I simply just could not get past the horrible graphics/animations.

Planescape: Torment: 6/10 points

I never really could figure out why people liked this game so much. Personally I thought the story was great, but aside from that...

Planescape: Torment: 8/10 points

I really liked the story, but I never could get back into the game. I played it years ago but never finished, and now I just cant stand to play it. I give it an 8 though, because the story was absolutely great.

Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 2/10 points

Yuck, and I paid money for this.

Siege of Avalon: 7/10 points

I actually enjoyed this game quite a bit. I thought the storyline was well done.

Ultima 7 - Serpent Isle (Sequel): 6/10 points

Was very good, but not near the best IMO

World of Warcraft: 3/10 points

Horrible downtime, severe lag, nothing new - at all. Everything in WOW is a carbon copy of every other mmorpg that has come out in the past. I would suggest it to new mmorpg'ers, not if you've played them before though. Very basic combat, nothing intuitive or insightful. Graphics are very subpar for a next gen mmorpg. Overall, this game sucks.
