1Up has taken a look at Spellforce 2, based on time spent with it at GDC:The developers claim a lot of what's been done here is taking the (extensive) laundry list of issues with the original game and addressing not just the complaints, but the underlying gameplay problems. Although we didn't get to see anywhere near the 50+ hours of the single-player campaign, let alone the separate multiplayer co-op campaign, it's clear that the meandering and often pointless mission design of the last game has been resolved. Levels will offer both RTS and RPG "solutions" to whatever problems arise, such as getting sieging forces behind an enemy's defensive line. |
