Shacknews has some E3 impressions of Bethesda's 'Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion'.The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind was a huge moneymaker for Bethesda Softworks, spawning an Xbox port and then even another Xbox version packed with extra content. The latest sequel, Oblivion, is primed to be bigger, better, and more interactive.
Oblivion was one of the first announced next-gen games and the screenshots released at its announcement were spectacular. What we were shown at E3 was even better. There's so much technology being packed into Oblivion to create a world that is fluid, interactive, and organic.
How so? For starters, over 9,000 objects are being created for use in the game. There are 400 books to read. Every character will have spoken dialogue, amounting to over 50 hours of speech. All the characters will be lip synced with the dialogue. The world is comprised of sixteen square miles of land to explore, half of which is dynamically generated forests which are populated with various forms of wild and plant life. |
