Clint Morley has been interviewed at PS2.IGN about 'Champions: Return to Arms':IGN: What is the main direction that you wanted to bring the game this time?
Clint Worley: With Return to arms we know we have a strong following from the first title and we didn't want to do anything that we felt would alienate our user base, but at the same time we wanted something refreshing, a unique challenge. So what we decided to do was throw in that good and evil twist in the game. So that way players could maybe find a play style that suits their attitude or their gameplay style. And we also wanted to introduce some of the mini-games like the medal rounds and side quests because a lot of people have family, they've got jobs and things like that so they can't do these marathon gaming sessions.
So the idea with that was that they could sit down, play these medal rounds or side quests and feel as if they're still making progress in the game or accomplishing something without having to put the 40 hours of gameplay into the game in order to beat it. That was basically it. We wanted to bring the gameplay styles in and stay true to the game mechanics because everybody enjoys running around and hacking on stuff and killing creatures, but we still wanted to give players more to do. |
