Another feature that the developers seem rather proud of is the ability to sit back and watch the world at work without any interference on your part. I myself watched a group of peasants trod back and forth between their village and the sawmill, only to be ambushed by a group of bandits every single time. I eventually killed the bandits as part of a quest, but just imagine, if I had never done so the peasants would still be marching to their deaths, just like Sea Monkeys.
