RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Sony666 has rated the following games:

Dark Sun 1 - Shattered Lands: 8/10 points

Great RPG, quite unique in it's setting. It was on a games magazine CD and I was very suprised to find this quality type of game there :)

Deus Ex: 10/10 points

The one and only FPS worth playing... Killer story and mild RPG elements, this is System Shock I in the "real" world.

Diablo: 10/10 points

Simple, fun and addictive. This one is hard to rate... the brain says "NO, damn you! It's not an RPG", but I spent more time with Diablo 1 and 2 than with any other game, and it was GREAT fun. Anything but rating it a perfect 10 would be cheating myself.

Diablo 2: 10/10 points

As the most addictive game ever made by mankind, this game cost me nerly 1 year of my life.. Too bad the Multiplayer part is all about powergaming and godly items, but when you find some cool friends to play with it's just awesome fun. Too bad an infinite list of bugs/exploits and hacks can ruin your experience, but it didn't for me :)

Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction: 10/10 points

Entertainment pure, nice skill system and of course *items*. Diablo 2 is all about the items you find, you either like powergaming or you will hate this one. Perfect for some hours of monster-bashing-no-brainer fun after work or school. Lots of people to meet there online, although the vast majority is awfully retarded and annoying ^_^ huk huk kekeke

Divine Divinity: 9/10 points

Diablo 2 with a bazillion of quests and a real, huge world. What else can you ask for?

Dragonflight: 5/10 points

Humm... I played this on the Amiga 500. An average RPG from Germany. Got bored after a while and never finished it, but the graphics were decent. No match for the almighty Dungeon Master at that time :)

Dungeon Master: 10/10 points

Back in it's time, it was without equal for many many years, a true milestone. Too bad the expansion and the successor were a major letdown...

Dungeon Master 2 - The Legend of Skullkeep: 2/10 points

A major letdown :( I couldn't be bothered to play more than 10 minutes, then I deleted it.

Elder Scrolls 2 - Daggerfall: 7/10 points

Jay has rated 7/10 points: "This game could have been AWESOME. HUGE world, open-ended, fascinating character possibilities (including vampirism and lycanthropy).Very fun to play. Crippling bugs and horrid random dungeons were its downfall." --- couldn't have said it better, the world was huge, I mean REALLY HUGE, but um... that was not enough to overcome the major drawbacks of this half-mature title. What a shame :(

Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points

Aww, this game restored my faith in the CRPG industry. Only topped by it's successor Fallout 2, because it's a little too short for my taste. A must have for all roleplayers out there.

Fallout 2: 10/10 points

The true successor of Wasteland, it has better and longer story than Fallout I. The openong movie is well worth buying this game alone. Unmatched even today is the skill system which brings the shame on every hyped AD&D game. Best game ever along with "System Shock I" and "Dungeon Master"

Icewind Dale 2: 7/10 points

Yeah that's one hardcore single-player AD&D dinosaur, unfortunately I had enough of those and the story tends to be tedious and somewhat boring. Not to forget a lot of frustating and unfair parts of the game... Neverwinter Nights revealed the future of CRPGs, although NWN's single player campaign is somewhat leightweighted :)

Jagged Alliance 2: 8/10 points

Great strategy game with role-playing elements and world-class voice effects (and a load of bugs :)) Watching the character interaction is pure fun, one of the 3 CDs is made up of voice files only... where do you find that elsewhere?

Lands of Lore 1 - The Throne Of Chaos: 8/10 points

Captain Picard did the voice acting!! :) Besides that, a good RPG, although I can't recall much of it anymore. Only thing I remember is that the atmosphere was intense, and I hated geting poisoned in that goddamn swamp...

Neverwinter Nights: 9/10 points

Very nice, but has some major flaws. The single player campaign is way too short and too easy, and the 1000+ home-made modules availible now can't make up for that, beacause they lack profesialism. The online value via GameSpy is also not compareable to Diablo 2/Battle.net. I waded through the campaign with my Monk pretty easy, and now I'm waiting for the promised free second official campaign and hoping it will be better.

Pool of Radiance: 9/10 points

It was the king of the kill 15 years ago... *sigh* /me is getting old. PoR started the Cycle which was ended by Icewind Dale 2 now. The future is for engines like Neverwinter's, but those who truely played this game back in 1988 will never forget it.

Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 4/10 points

boring, tedious, dungeons the size and looks of New York City's canalisation system... all has been said before :( I'd rather play the original from the 80's on my C64Emu than this monstrosity.

System Shock: 10/10 points

Yes...the memories...never will we see such a game again *sigh*

System Shock 2: 7/10 points

Sadly, the original was far better. Weird respawning and the AWFUL "pain in the arse" final alien level ruined this promising title. Still worth a look, though. You won't find a game more creepy than this one, especially because of the tremendous sound effects/music.

Thief - The Dark Project: 6/10 points

Definately NOT a PRG. Nonetheless, it's pretty good. Some of the levels are great fun, while others later in the game are plain weird a pain to play. But hey, Looking Glass brought us System Shock and Ultima Underworld, so why complain :)

Ultima 6 - The False Prophet: 9/10 points

fantastic story and gamaplay for the time it was out, a great step forward from U5 without sacrificing in story.

Ultima 9 - Ascension: 6/10 points

Wow this is a hard one... The potential was a true unique one, story and concept are just awesome. Unfortunately, the programers screw all up :( Story/concept/artwork: 10/10, technical realisation: 2/10

Wasteland: 9/10 points

A true RPG where imagination replaced the 3D graphics of today's titles. Too bad I always ran out of 7.62 ammo for the AK, heh :)
