Seoul, South Korea, October 6, 2003---Commercial service of Lineage(tm) II in Korea, which kicked off on October 1, is growing rapidly and showing signs of adding record numbers of customers, according to publisher NCsoft(tm). Officials with the company say the number of simultaneous users in Lineage II is almost unchanged compared to the numbers during open beta service during the summer months. NCsoft CEO, Tack Jin Kim said the early numbers indicate that the highly anticipated game will become a mega hit as it continues to grow. As of October 5, Lineage II was attracting 90,000 simultaneous users in Korea and 130,000 paying subscribers.

NCsoft officials expect Lineage II subscriber numbers to continue growing. On October 9, NCsoft plans on launching four additional servers to bring the total in Korea to 24. This will provide even better service and a friendlier game environment, as the number of individual subscribers and game hours played at PC rooms continue to rise.

Meantime the original Lineage continues to record the highest number of simultaneous users in Korea (more than 110,000). Company officials say the commercial release of Lineage II has had little if any impact on subscriber numbers for Lineage.

Lineage II was successfully launched in Korea thanks to the support of many gamers, according to NCsoft. Kim says that the company will continue to provide high levels of service by launching even more servers and continuing to listen to players’ feedback.
