It may interest you, but I turn off the sound of any game I play because it is usually annoying to me. I LOVE SOC, and your review was terrific.

I've been in Soc [Sociolotron] for the better part of 2 years now. April will be my 2 year anniversary with Soc. Its good to see a fair and accurate review of Soc and all it has to offer. Alot of players log into Soc and think about sex. But there is so much more to Soc than most believe. Thank you .. Thank you.. Thank you for showing the positive side of Soc and the vitural world that Soc brings to it's loyal players. LadyCrane

Most addictive game I've ever played. Cant wait till sociolotron 2 makes it to beta.

Its refreshing to see a review by someone who has played the game. This review is right on.

deWolf has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from deWolf)

I'd give 9.5 if it were possible - the interface does let it down a bit. Socio is the first online game I've played and I don't see a need to try any others - I know they just wouldn't satisfy. Good honest review btw.

As one of the developement staff of Sociolotron, it's always nice to see a positive review of something you've worked on for years. Granted my part of Sociolotron's Developement has purely been the IRC, Forum, and Website aspects of the game, and it's community. One thing that I felt should have been mentioned in the review is that all the graphics, coding, and other work on the actual Client / Server parts of Sociolotron has been done by one person, and not a team of sound artists, graphics artists, and programmers.. A feat that is rare if not mostly unheard of in this day of 100+ Programmer Teams.. Also as a note.. Sociolotron has been a big enough success that work has begun on Sociolotron 2, which will improve on many of the "Cons" listed in this review. :) Thank You again for the fair and positive review of Sociolotron, on behalf of PlayerDark, myself, and every one of the hard working volunteer staff members that work to make the Sociolotron Experience a fun and enjoyable one.

Dark atmosphere, proper roleplaying, dedicated community, very small concentration of lollers and omgers, sexual exploration... I've been playing Sociolotron almost a year now, and I like it very much. It's quite ugly, but it feels so much more alive than Second Life. I would recommend it to people interested in erotically themed serious roleplaying.

this looks like crap :/ but i guess its worth a 4

KissMeKate has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from KissMeKate)

Awesome! been playing for A long time (years) and am hooked. The RP and the community make the play here long term. While I maxed out MXO and SWG rather quickly and got bored. The adult atmosphere and investment in RP and long term family/gang names and reputations make it a game you can keep playing and playing and playing!

I havent played Sociolotron for very long, but I have found it to be entertaining and gives a real sence of freedom on how you wish your character to be. The "if you cant deal with the unpleasantnesses of the world dont play" philosophy really cater to me. And still the people I have met are still very nice, they can be bastards if they want without fear of beeing banned, but still seem to generally be friendly and polite. And that fact that you must be 21 to play helps alot for getting less "lol" and other leetspeak bullshit that often accompanies the wow-like games. The only negative is that I cannot play this at my work ,since I it can get me kicked out of work(read: mature "elements").- But I guess thats a problem with my workplae not Sociolotron :)

I'm torn. Played this for a long time as a beta tester, and I've watched the game evolve into the current form. Frankly, it's too nice. If you do anything wrong (steal, assault, rape, etc.), you will be caught and punished. Doesn't matter how good you can be at being evil. You will lose. Nevertheless, it's addicting. It gives you what no other game comes close to, with the rush that something MIGHT happen (though in truth, there are few who actually try to hurt someone).

Although graphics may not be the best. The game is a strong growing community. It has what most of those RPs are missing. Take my advise and join. Atleast try it. Only $4.00 for the first month (30 Days Of Game Play.) be advised that is an ADULT game! No KIDS! Cya In Game! Dom

This is a follow-up to my previous, more negative comment. OK, I went back to this game and got hooked bad. I'd be playing right now if I wasn't imposing strict rules on myself! What saves this game for me is the above average quality of the chat. I think the pervasive sex element helps to facilitate this. I still find the super-technical treatment of sex as a game mechanic weird and awkward, but I think it serves a purpose (partly because it is so problematic). There are quite a few people in the game who seem most interested in accumulating points and other stuff. Don't really see what people with that preference enjoy about this game in particular, but it must be something.

Screwtape has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Screwtape)

This game has degraded significantly since it went live. Players are immersed in heated debates over game politics to the extent that much of the gameplay has stopped. Major rule changes and bannings are a regular occurance. The project appears to be in its death throes.

Going out of business

Trucker has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Trucker)

Invites extreme roleplay such as rape, blackmail, etc.., but this doesn't work in practice. Other players retaliate by complaining to staff and threatening to leave. The developer then bans players on the basis of these complaints or introduces major changes in an effort to retain some accounts. As a result, the only people left are too busy trying to get one another to quit or be kicked out to play the game.

Susanne has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Susanne)

I played Socio for six months and didn't find it worth the effort. It has a primitive interface that is bug-ridden and very difficult to learn. The manual is extremely vague. The graphics, the especially sex animations, are really cheesy. The small screen size makes it difficult to navigate -- you cannot see everyone who is in the same room as you. Game lag is a major problem, even with broadband.

A chatroom with sex.

Evita has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Evita)

Sociolotron looks great at first, but has serious problems under the surface. Playing is like trying to get into the popular clique in high school. The owner and staff are willing to pick and choose who they want in the game, and some players even end up having their accounts closed without warning. When the game was free and being run out of the owner's house this might have been okay, but paid subscribers are signing up on the assumption that Socio is run like a business, and it's not. There's now a general recognition that the game isn't working, and there is non-stop fighting over which players are to blame. It would be safer to invest one's time in a game that is run by a stable company.

CelticSearch has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from CelticSearch)

Outrageously engaging game, but some difficulties if you dont have high end capabilitiess. A 1.7 Ghz cpu with 740M ram gts lags quit oftn an the cpu is running at 100% just for the game.

If this seems interesting, there is a new crop of adult MMORPGs that are professionally developed and managed, including "Red Light Center," "Rapture Online," and "Naughty America," that include such features as 3D graphics, voice, social networking functions, and so on. This game saw its heyday during the beta phase, after which many players left for WoW or Second Life. For example, when a sizable portion of the beta group failed to subscribe when the game went live in January, their accounts were quietly extended 6 months while the other players continued to pay. Most of the dedicated players who have remained spend a disproportionate amount of time blaming one another for why the game is no longer fun.

Anindo Ghosh has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Anindo Ghosh)

I played Sociolotron obsessively for about a year during the beta, then dropped off when it went commercial - not because I was unwilling to pay, but because CCBill, their payment gateway, does not accept credit cards from India. I would definitely look for a way to get past this blocker, if Sociolotron were to upgrade its graphics and specifically its animations. The ONLY GAME IN ITS GENRE THAT TAKES THE BOLD STEP OF ALLOWING GAME MORALITY TO DIVERGE DRASTICALLY FROM RL MORALITY!

Code Monkey has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Code Monkey)

The game staff are often players and have strong feelings about other people in the game. On at least two occasions I am aware of GM accounts were used to permakill an opposing character. A lot of players have been driven from the game because of grievances with how it is managed and the direction in which it is evolving (that is, it is becoming very whitewashed as all the celebrated immorality inevitably generates complaints to staff -- a predictable outcome for game which allows abduction, rape, etc...). There are way too much drama and politics going on for this game to be fun.

Kevin has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Kevin)

The game has great potential, but fun is largely dependent upon the actual players. I have heard that there was much more action earlier on as lot of so called bad people left (not sure if was of their own accord or not). However, game is still enjoyable and you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you are willing to face the consequences of your actions like in real life. Major gripes are screen size is too small as can not see everyone in room and sex is cheesy looking (actually find it more humorous than sexy). But role playing is at premium for game developed by basically one person and anyone into that will love the game play and conversation. Am looking forward to Socio 2 and will keep playing until then.
