The staff over at Games Radar have posted up this anonymous, and uninspired review of Myst IV: Revelations, giving Myst an overall dismal rating of 45%...
Yet, there are some small areas where Revelations excels. The art and sound behind the game is striking. Medieval, scientific and industrial cliches are all given an alien twist - you'll travel to alien worlds and emerald cities in the sky. My favourite: an upturned pirate ship, complete with rotting decks and abandoned rigging. But there's an odd atmosphere: you receive glimpses of the past through a sage's necklace, but rarely do you interact with another person. You poke, you prod, you play, just attempting to get a reaction. It's a lonely game, an ambient multimedia experience. Man. But fundamentally, it's a bit broken |
