Take a Roman Republic that never quite humored its imperialist urges, and eventually found its way into space, and combine with a hostile (and similarly space-bound) Mayan Empire, and you get the gist of Imperator. Far from the sword-and-sorcery milieu that you'd expect from the next game by Dark Age of Camelot developer Mythic, the ambitious sci-fi MMO seeks to imbue its setting's real-world foundations with just enough of the fantastical to compete in this crazy category. Think Spartacus meets Star Trek -- with Romans in role of the Federation, and the Mayans being the Cardassians -- and you're on the right track.
