Gamespy has posted a preview of the swashbuckling adventure, Tortuga: Two Treasures being developed by Ascaron.
Ascaron, the developer of Tortuga -- Two Treasures, may be a familiar name to hard-core strategy gamers out there. They're the respected German development house responsible for a number of enjoyable (if hard-core) strategy franchises including the Patrician and Port Royale series. Unlike the Port Royale games, which were extraordinarily detailed trading/empire building games that simulated the nuts and bolts of being an 18th century Caribbean businessman, Tortuga -- Two Treasures goes straight for an ahistorical but much more accessible action/adventure version of the pirate theme. Tortuga -- Two Treasures is all about wild sword fights, scurvy sea dogs, voodoo priestesses, hidden treasures and, of course, really big ships shooting really big cannonballs at one another until one of them heads for Davey Jones' locker.
Read the rest of this fairly comprehensive look at the game and get a look as some nice screenshots at Gamespy.
