AC2 Teaching Stone about Fellowships

The latest Teaching Stone at the official AC2 site talks about Fellowships:
Many solo characters prefer searching for isolated spots in the wilderness where they can hunt undisturbed. There's a good reason for this: the danger of "stolen kills." When a character slays a monster on his own, he gets all of the XP for that encounter. If another person helps him by inflicting damage against the same monster, the two characters "share the kill": the XP is split between them. For example, one character might earn 10 XP for killing a Red Phyntos Wasp, but if two characters participate in the fight, each one earns 5 XP—half as much.

Because of this, some characters with ranged attacks can fire a few easy shots into a melee to gain XP. In many cases, that help can mean the difference between life and death. Sometimes, though, a Melee character who has risked his life to finish off a difficult monster may lose half his experience to a Missile character who only fired a few shots. As compensation, the character who inflicted the most damage gains "looting rights" over the corpse—he's the only one who can check it for loot. Whenever characters team up, you should keep in mind the risks—and rewards—involved. Any team requires organization.

Fortunately, there's a mechanic in the game to help characters work together more effectively. By pressing the F9 key (or clicking the flag-shaped icon in your Toolbar), you can open the Social panel. If you haven't formed a Fellowship, you'll have the opportunity to start one. First, you'll need to give the Fellowship a name—one that relates to the name of a Quest is a good choice. To recruit another character into your Fellowship, click that character, then click on the "Recruit" button.
The Teaching Stone is a nicely written introduction to the game for new players.
