Codemaster's 'Dragon Empires' is the subject of a new preview at Gamespy that examines what makes DE different:The first new system that it highlighted for us is the dual experience point system. A major game mechanic is the amassing of regular experience points that you use to go up in levels and get new abilities. You get these the traditional way: kill things and solve quests. Dragon Empires, however, also includes what they call "temporary experience points," or TEXP. You earn this kind of experience by taking on risky missions like running some supplies through a dangerous player-vs.-player area. If you succeed, the TEXP moves into your normal experience-point slot. However, other players can waylay you and take your TEXP and keep it for themselves. But that's not all. Other players can take on the role of bounty hunters who track down these rogue players and avenge your death, taking the TEXP for themselves and completing the circle of life.
