There is a new Dragon Empires Dev Diary at the official site today. It is written by Daniel Yelland and it deals with programming and spell effects:
I´ve worked on a number of areas of the game, but today I´d like to talk about one of the areas I´ve most recently worked on. As some of you will know, we recently had a big milestone in the form of the E3 show in the USA. I´m responsible for the client side combat and abilities system for the game, which involves the basic engine for driving the game’s combat system, linking in the user interface and the more fun job of making sure all the spells and special effects work and look correct. As you can see from the screenshot on this page, our artists have made a really good job of the spells, making some quite unique spell effects as well as some traditional large particle explosions.
