Slashdot is reporting about an interview with John De Margheriti, CEO of Australian developer Micro Forté at australia.internet.com, in which he mentions a new, yet unannounced mmorpg for the Xbox. What the BigWorld technology exactly is and how good it will prove to be remains yet the question. Here's a snip from the interview:
I think the Microsoft deal was attractive to both companies. Microsoft struck a fair deal, and we appreciated that. It's a great base to work from, and I think our partnership with Microsoft will hopefully be of a long term nature. A first-mover advantage is obviously important. To date, there are no real console specific MMOG's out there. By that I mean an MMOG that has been specifically designed for the console audience. They are a very different audience than the PC audience. Microsoft has helped us enormously in coming to understand this difference, and focus group testing of the product across the world has only reinforced our thinking on this. Our technology could very well be the killer app for the Xbox. I think the Xbox killer app is online games in general, and I hope that the BigWorld Technology will play a strong part in that.
