It is always a pleasure to hear from our friend, Rhomal Maximus, who has been (of late) investigating some intrinsic and very interesting issues that are inherent to the NWN 2 Obsidian/BioWare forums...

Now I don’t have to fence walk anymore I can be vocal about this which has bothered me for some time. If anyone has not noticed yet the 'NWN2 Obsidian forums' are pretty much a Bioware forum with a Obsidian logo. The whole 'this is Obsidians forums' is laughable at best. To do most anything modd-ish/admin-ish (ie banning) both the Obsidian mods and developers have to request such to bioware who may or may not approve. That does not, to me at least, seem as if Obsidian 'runs' anything on the NWN2 forums except in name only.

When the publisher Atari dictated the forums be moved from the Obsidian site to Bioware I had my concerns at first. As I think everyone involved did. But at the start there was little influence from Bioware. As time progressed however, being a NWN2 mod, it became clear this was a short lived situation.

Bioware seems to want their rules both from a community and moderator standpoint enforced, not Obsidians. They want the Obsidian mods to go though them for most decisions. And when a banning is suggested the mod does not go though anyone from Obsidian, but Bioware. This also includes NWN2 Developers, this is one instance I am aware a Obsidian developer wanted a banning and Bioware said 'no' as they did not feel he violated their rules.

Shouldn't Obsidian dictate the rules they want on their forums?
