RPGDot Game Rating Machine

Sheltem has rated the following games:

Baldur's Gate: 8/10 points

Great game that helped bring RPG's back into the spotlight. This would have recieved a higher rating but even though the world you explore is incredibly large you spend a large amount of time just walking around with nothing to do other than look at the scenery.

Bard's Tale Construction Set: 7/10 points

A decent RPG construction set that was largely overshadowed by SSI's Unlimited Adventures construction set.

Fallout 2: 7/10 points

Great game but the bugs are bad enough to bring up memories of Daggerfall. The patches correct a majority of the issues but remember to patch before playing because the save games aren't compatible between the various patches.

Might & Magic 2 - Gates to Another World: 9/10 points

I still feel that this is the best game in the Might and Magic series. Non-linear gameplay and a incredible amount of side quests make this a game I still play to this day.

Planescape: Torment: 10/10 points

Great game that is sadly overlooked by some due to the text intensive gameplay. An excellent story and incredible character depth makes this an instant classic.

Pool of Radiance: 7/10 points

Although archaic by todays standards this game is still fun to play, if you can run it on your computer and don't lose the annoying code wheel that is used for copy protection.

Pool of Radiance - Ruins of Myth Drannor: 2/10 points

This game was a major disappointment. Bugs, repetitive environments, incredibly slow combat, and a complete disregard for most of the 3E rules make this something you shouldn't even pick up in the bargain bin. Not to mention the fact that this game holds the dubious honor of being the only game I can think of that people have had to format thier hardrive because they tried to uninstall it. While that issue has been fixed in a patch it shows a complete lack of testing on the part of the developers.

Ultima 9 - Ascension: 2/10 points

This game could hold on it's own if it was anything but an Ultima title. Anyone who enjoyed the previous games and is looking for more of the same will be dissapointed. This isn't an Ultima game its Tomb Raider does Britannia.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption: 7/10 points

Decent game but a glaring example of why when most PnP games are ported to the computer they are non linear. After the first few hours you'll end up trudging through the game to finish the story and never looking at it again.

Wizards & Warriors - Quest for the Mavin Sword: 6/10 points

This could have been alot better game if it was released about two years earlier and if Activision hadn't released it and then forgotten about it. This game fell far short of what was planned when it was still called Swords and Sorcery. But even with all of the problems it is still worth playing.
