Another big wet one goes out to S. Olafsson, Marketing Manager of CCP Games for sending us the following news alert regarding his company's MMORPG EVE:
During the past few months we have been working hard at building the world of EVE (http://www.eve-online.com), expanding the solar systems and adding to the vast variety of stations, ships and equipment. We have also continued to complete game systems, functions and features, such as mining and trading, legal systems and skill training. The combat system has advanced with some impressive special effects and features. In the near future extensive work on character creation will come into function and the economy system will come in to play.
The game has gone through its first spell of testing during a closed alpha test with a group of testers identifying problems relating to game design and playability. In the coming months we will put it through extensive in-house play- and system testing in order to eliminate defects effectively and to create a fun, stable, user-friendly game with an intuitive interface. This will prepare it for the live multiplayer testing in the beta test, which will start in the coming months. We think this is the right time to create a pool of beta applicants from around the world and therefore we have put up a registration form at our website (www.eve-online.com/beta). The beta test will operate in a number of phases, with a large group of players working in concert to play the game. It will start in the last quarter of this year with a closed beta testing phase and limited numbers of participants, later evolving into a larger community testing the game's performance.
On behalf of the CCP development team I'd like to thank you for your interest in EVE - The Second Genesis and I hope to find your name on our Beta-signup lists.
