Welcome to Ishtan, a medieval world of magic and swordplay. Ishtan is a graphically rich 3d mmorpg, and if you don't know already, mmorpg stands for Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game.
Ishtan is set in one world, played on one virtual server. All players exist within the same world. The actual world size for stage one covers an area exceeding 22,000sq kilometers above ground with a similar expanse covering the underworld realms of the dwarves, dark elves and deep gnomes. On a clear day(or night for the races from the underworld) and with full graphics options enabled, players can see in excess of 30 kilometers across the world.
As a player you can create your character from 16 different and diverse races, each race has their own benefits and limitations. Once you have decided on a race, you select your primary profession or class. There are 12 different classes to choose from ranging from simple fighters making their way through the world by force of arms, the stealthy rogues making a living of others, to magic wielding wizards and priests commanding forces of destruction and healing. Each profession then has hundreds of skills to choose from which they can use to customise their character further. At this point you can even choose to run a tavern, become a black smith, or even a farmer.
Once you have chosen your profession its time to venture into the world. Ishtan is a small island and is the focal point for the first stage of the game. Ishtan lies around 3000 kilometers from the main continent of Faergoth where many of the islands supplies come from.
Over the past 1000 or so years, constant wars between the various races and hordes of monsters have devastated the island. Through all of the chaos, three city states have risen and while they control their surrounding area's the control is limited and in constant threat from outside forces. As a player, you join the world within one of these three cities, you have a room in an inn, some money in your pocket, and a desire to step out into the world. From there, it's up to you.
Ishtan is unique in it's approach to gaming and is designed to encourage roleplaying in an emmersive 3d environment without placing false restrictions on the way you wish to play. Playing as a an adventurer in one of the many professions is just one aspect of the game which also allows you raise armies, conquer castles and cities, become a politician or a noble, or settle down as a not so humble trader.
At present the game is pre-beta and cannot be played by the public. Applications to beta test can be made on the community web site. |
