At the Arcanum Mod boards at Vault Network, Artist Michael McCarthy dropped in to tell us something about a new Arcanum patch, changes in the world editor (whew, thanks, the one they have now is soooooo hard to comprehend) and the manual:
Hey Guys,
Here's where we're at:
We are releasing a new patch soon for arcanum. The new patch will feature a new WorldEd with some great new changes. The day that patch is released, we will post the new manual. The patch should be in sierras hands for testing by friday of this week.
Here is a list of new things worlded will offer.... they are very cool.
1. WorldEd will now be a DAT editing utility. When you open your DAT file from worlded, it will uncompress all of the files to a temporary directory. When you close it, it will recompress back to DAT format. This removes quite a bit of confusion.
2. You will be able to open and edit all MES files from a pull-down menu in worlded.
3. Right-clicking on your map and selecting "set player start location" will now set it automatically for multi-player AND single player modules.
4. Maplist.mes will now have a GUI within worlded. New maplist entries will be added automatically whenever a new map is saved.
5. In order for a dialogue to be created, you must have a corresponding script file. This isn't new, the difference is how you create and edit dialogue files. Now, you will launch scriptmaker from worlded and if you have saved a script file, you can choose to launch a dialogue file that will automatically be named appropriately.
These are the major changes we have made. They are awesome. I freakin wish we had this stuff implemented when I had to use this thing.
The manual combined with the tutorials should answer most all questions that people have on the boards.
The manual will feature:
1. Description of entire interface.
2. Complete listings of spell and eye-candy numbers for scripts.
3. Complete list of all editable object fields and what they mean.
4. Complete definition of all script commands.
WorldEd is so much better now.
I will post up here as soon the new patch and manual are available. | Source: RPGVault |
