Etherlords 2 has been previewed at Gaming Illustrated. Here's an excerpt:
Undoubtedly, the best feature of Etherlords II is its gameplay, specifically the combat system and hundreds of spells and creatures in the game, which can be combined to create nearly unlimited tactical possibilities. Whenever your hero / heroin encounters a monster during the Adventure Mode and you wish to engage in a battle, you will then be taken into the Battle Mode where both you and your opponent will face off in a turn-based combat system using various spells. A battle usually starts when both heroes draw six cards from their active deck. Then, a randomly chosen combatant makes its first move. The battle is over when either hero / heroin’s health bar reaches zero. As with other card games, no matter how you arrange your spells in every battle, the spells you start with and the ones you receive thereafter will always be random - this means the player would have to adapt to different situations and make new tactical decisions in every match. This creates a fresh perspective on every match, and it also makes the game much more challenging. |
