Luc "Moorkh" Martin, a moderator of publisher CDV at Larian Studios' Divine Divinity boards, has commented (German) on an ongoing debate about Divinity's release date. Many fans had their doubts that Divinity would be finished on September, 14 as CDV had originally planned because CDV has -so far- done little to nothing to advertise the game.
Moorkh has not exactly admitted to a delay but he made clear that they will only release a 99% bug free game. He says that CDV is very content with what Larian Studios have achieved and that the game is very close to complete. However, Divinity's non-linearity has turned out to be quite a challenge for the quality assurance team because the endless possibilities can lead to unpredictable results, i.e. bugs.
Moorkh didn't give us a new release date but said an official statement would be made public in the near future.
Let's take these factors into account: a public demo is supposed to be released before the game and a public beta test is currently in the planning stage. Evaluating the feedback from the testing will require quite some time. Hard to guess at a new date but past experiences show that public beta tests usually take about two months of time. Oh well, let's just wait for the official statement and let's be grateful for CDV's/Larian's plans to save us from a buggy game. |
