Gamer's Pulse has posted a preview of the PC version of 'Final Fantasy XI', Square's 1st online-only installment in the 'Final Fantasy' franchise.
Here's a bit:As an online game, Final Fantasy XI features a comprehensive communications system that allows full text chatting, as well as a unique expression system. Characters can express emotions such as anger, elation, or sadness by selecting animations. In the course of playing the game, it became apparent that communication has a large role in Final Fantasy XI and emotes are a nice way of demonstrating your affinity or dislike for other players aside from text. Communication is clearly important when dealing with parties and alliances in the game. Final Fantasy XI fails to support guilds, but does allow the formation of parties of up to six characters. Managing a party requires constant communication, as does creating an alliance of up to three parties. While both parties and alliances are usually temporary, advanced missions will demand player cooperation through the formation of parties and alliances to complete objectives. |
