A score of 89% is the result of GameMethod's 'Fable' review.
Fable began without a name, several years ago, conceived only as Project Ego. In the course of its development, Peter Molyneux, director of Lionhead Studios, described the hopes of designing a new kind of role-playing experience. Unlike traditional console role-playing games, Fable was to allow for unprecedented freedom in play with open-ended character development and non-linear gameplay. By performing various acts in the game, your hero would choose good acts or evil acts; ultimately, the balance between these morally-imbued actions would affect the moral alignment of your hero and influence his appearance. An immense undertaking, Fable no longer lies in the realm of concept, but instead in reality; yet, the ambitious goals set remain only partially fulfilled. Even so, moving beyond expectations to consider the final result in itself, Fable is a superb role-playing game that offers a unique experience that is simply unparalleled.
