The Electronic Sports Leage (an organization that holds tournaments for a variety of online games) has announced a multi-stage tournament where Guild Wars guilds from Europe, North America, and Korea will compete for a variety of prizes. Sign-ups have already begun.
It is getting cold outside and like every winter people stay at home where it is warm. However this time we don't want you to bore yourself and that is why we will organize the first Guild Wars Xmas Cup.
The Signups will open on 11/27/2005 12:00 CET. The number of teams is limited to 64 so it will be first come, first served.
The group stage of the Xmas Cup will start on 12/11/2005 20:00 CET, third Sunday in Advent and last for two weeks. The 16 groups will consist of four teams each and will be drawn separately for each continent so that during the group stage there will be neither matches between European and American or Korean Guilds nor between American and Korean guilds. This is meant to make it easier for you to agree on a date to play. All matches will be played in best-of-three mode. The group stage will end on on 12/25/2005 and the teams that finish in first and second place of their group qualify for the playoffs.
