Gaming site Fat Babies seems to have a source within EA who told them that the servers of the company's space-based MMORPG 'Earth & Beyond' might be taken down for good at the end of July this year. The number of current monthly subscribers is supposed to be less than 30,000. Obviously not enough or... in other words, enough to make EA look into cutting its losses.
This would fit to a similar story that popped up a while back when EA said that they were not going to spend too much more effort on online games. Back then, EA said they lacked the know-how and the resources to produce decent online games and that they'd stay away from the genre for a while.
It was also noticeable that the official 'Earth & Beyond' website was not updated too often recently.
However, please remember that the 1st part of this post ('Earth & Beyond' potentially shutting down) was originally unveiled on Fat Babies' rumor page. | Source: PC Games |
