The Horizons Vault sat down with Artifact's Jeremy Statz (World Developer) to chat about his company's upcoming MMORPG, Horizons.
Here's an interesting excerpt:How will you design the world to influence people to explore because the world is cool and not just for cool equipment?
Jeremey Statz: One of my primary goals is to make sure the landscape has dramatic features and feels busy. I don't want a game world that's just a few scattered buildings on some largely flat terrain broken up by the occasional minor hill. I've seen a lot of games that seem cookie cutter, buildings don't quite mesh with the ground they're on and everything has a feeling of being a bit contrived -- like it was built for the trees but not the forest. I think one of the most important things we have to do is avoid that. | Source: ToTheGame |
