GameZone have posted an interview with Chuck Cuevas, producer of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. Interplay's choice of title seems to have caused mayhem because the article often refers to the old squad-based tactical title, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Here's a quote:Q: The game has been described as both gritty and darkly humorous. What elements do you consider quantify this game as gritty? Is the game humorous in a Duke Nukem or Serious Sam way, or are you treading into other terrority for the smirks and chuckles?
Chuck: Anytime a player can whip out his piece and blow off the head of an enemy has got to be described a gritty. Blood spewing, chunks flying and limbs disappearing have helped us garner the big M from the ESRB. I would say that is the grit.
As for humor? Most of the fun comes from the conversations the player will overhear or engage in with the inhabitants of the wasteland. Raiders complaining that killing is too hard and giving him cramps to Ghouls more interested in their scabs then the ritualistic sacrifice of a poor defenseless human. The humor is dark and just a little twisted. |
