Chris Johnson lets us know that over at Desslock's you'll find a guide for playing an assassine in LoD, as well as a walkthrough for the complete expansion. Here's a piece of wisdom about the assassine:

The Assassin offers one of the more challenging and fun gaming experiences to be had in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. As all melee characters in the game, an Assassin is equally as dependant on her equipment as her skill and stat selections. With this guide I hope to give some advice and pointers on how to build an Assassin that is viable for all difficulty levels of the game. I have found it interesting to see just how few people actually make it into Hell difficulty with this character. Little do people realize that the Assassin is one of the few character classes that can handle an eight player hell difficulty game by themselves. This guide should only be used as such, and it doesn't mean that this method is superior to others. It is meant to be used for players who are not interested in Player vs. Player (PvP) combat, but I will include a section on how to modify the build a bit to make your character do well in fights with other characters.
