Looking back...

Well, another year has passed. Nearly 30 months of news coverage are behind us now, and since the end of February (this is when we started adding newsbits to our new database), we have brought you more than 5000 RPG related newsbits ober the last 9 months.

2001 was the most exciting year for us here at RPGDot. We had to change servers twice, completely rebuilt the site and put a lot of time and effort into the quality of our endeavour. We, too, suffered from the internet advertising breakdown, and while RPGDot itself was never in danger of being taken down, we had to stop hosting other sites (much to our regret).

Last December, we proudly announced that we had reached an all time high in visitors and pageviews. It was 24.000 unique monthly visitors and nearly 50.000 pageviews. Today, as I write these lines, we stand at 89.000 monthly uniques and 490.000 pageviews for December. We take this as approval for what we are doing.

But, of course, we are not much looking back, we are looking forward. There is so much left to do in regards of improving our services. While I think we are quite good right now, we want to become outstanding. We will invest even more time, even more manpower to make RPGDot the premiere source for RPG news. What we are planning to do is still a secret, but we will let you know soon...

For now, I say thank you to our loyal visitors. Thank you for being with us, for encouraging us and for your valuable input. The nice thing is: whenever we make a mistake in the newsbits, there's someone there to correct us. Whenever we miss an important thing, we can be sure that we'll find a reader's mail within the hour. And on the other hand, here's a nice story from the developers' side: not too long ago we received a mail with an announcement from a developer, saying that they think that their mailing list is broken, so they sent it directly to us, because "once you've got the newsbit up, it will appear everywhere soon". We will continue to try to live up to that.

Have a Happy New Year - and once you are on your feet again, check our site: we will have the latest newsbits for you RPG geeks like us :-)
